Jordan’s SFISH National Awareness Campaign (9-10 September 2023)

PERSGA organized an awareness-raising campaign on the IUU fishing for three girl schools in Aqaba (Jordan)- in collaboration with the Jordanian National Focal Point (Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA)), during 9-10 October 2023. Two of these schools were governmental ones, while the third one was a non-governmental school.  A presentation on the IUU fishing was first provided to students of these schools and then a time for questions was provided for students.

About 250 girl students, along with some teachers, participated at the awareness-raising campaign. These students were from the secondary and high stages and almost of these teachers were females. At the end of this campaign, some students suggested activities for developing this awareness-raising programme to enhance the SFISH Project. Activities of the this campaign were covered by the national press.
