Sudan’s SFISH National Raising-Awareness Campaign (24 October 2023)

PERSGA organized an awareness-raising campaign on the IUU fishing for fishermen at the fish landing of the Port Sudan (Sudan) – in collaboration with the Sudanese National Focal Point (Higher Council for the Environment and Natural Resources (HCENR) ), on  the 24^thy of October 2023. This campaign aimed to raise the awareness of impacts of the Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) to a large number of fishermen in Sudan.  About 100 fishermen attended this campaign. A number of officials from different Sudanese fishery associations also participated at the awareness-raising campaign. At the end, some fishermen provided recommendations and suggestions to develop this campaign and the SFISH Project.  Activities of this campaign was covered by a national press, thus contributing to enhancement of implementation of the objectives of the campaign and the Project.
