Yemen National Training Workshop on “Collection and Management of Fishery Statics and their use in Fish Stock Assessment” 8 – 10 April 2025, Aden (Republic of Yemen )

PERSGA held this training workshop in coordination with Yemeni National Focal Point (Environment Protection Authority) for three days 8-10 April 2025) in Aden (Yemen). This workshop aimed mainly: 1.  to show the progress activities on the stock assessment study in Yemen within the SFISH Project; and 2.  to train nationals on the fish stock assessment models/methods. The workshop included relevant lectures on the first two days and a filed visit to Siera fish market in Aden on the third day to practice an approach used within one of fish stock assessment models. About 36 persons participated in this workshop.  Most of these persons were affiliated to the Yemeni Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation & Fish Wealth and General Authority of Fisheries of the Gulf of Aden-with no less than 50% of these participants were females. Different local newspapers, click here as an example,  and national TV Channel,  Including Aden TV channels , covered activities of the workshop.  In addition, PERSGA developed a short documentary film on activities of the SFISH fish stock assessment in Yemen, including this workshop.
