PERSGA held an awareness-raising Program in coordination with the national focal point (Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development) for two days (9-10 December 2025) at two coastal areas (Mosha-Maskali Island and Loyada Boat Anchoring Site. The core purpose of the program was to raise the awareness level of local fishers on sustainability of fish wealth and impacts of GFGs and to have an open discussion with these fishers for the development of fishery management in these areas. About 30 fishers participated at the program. Different presentations, in relation to GFGs and Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) were provided to the local fishers in each area. There were open dialogue sessions with the local fishers -within the program- discussing different issues in relation to current fishery management in the coastal areas.
